Andhra Pradesh Plans Free Bus Travel for Women From Independence Day

Nandyal: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Saturday that his government is preparing to launch free bus travel for women across the state, tentatively starting on August 15, India’s Independence Day. The announcement was made during a public address at Nandyal Check Post in Kurnool district, where Naidu reaffirmed his commitment to the Telugu Desam Party’s ‘Super Six’ welfare agenda.

Naidu stated that the women's free bus travel initiative is one of the priority schemes his government intends to roll out soon, in line with the promises made before the Assembly elections. "Very soon we will provide free bus travel for women. I am considering launching it on August 15. This government has a responsibility to make that happen from that day onward," Naidu said to the cheering crowd.

The proposed scheme aims to ease the financial burden on women commuters, promote greater mobility, and ensure access to education, employment, and healthcare across districts. Officials have been directed to begin groundwork and assess logistics for implementation, including route planning and budget allocation.

This action is seen as part of a larger move orchestrated by the Naidu-led government in order to quickly activate welfare flagship programmes, rekindling public trust through visible development that includes and builds for all much faster than one might envision.
